Abstract

This study examines how public libraries in West Bengal are promoting environmental awareness to library users; through internal initiatives, and methods. The researcher conducted a survey to determine perceived knowledge and practice regarding green design in
the public libraries. Results indicate that few were implementing principles of green design in their practices. The majority expressed interest in learning more and using more green design principles and products. This is positive trend that has to be materialized in planning of libraries to maintain the sustainability.
