Abstract

Users' satisfaction towards library resources and services is one of the prime matters for any library. This paper reports the users' perception and their satisfaction level about various library resources and services provided by IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research) Kolkata Library. The paper highlights the picture and pattern of a modern age library and its various services according to user perspective and various requirements. IISER Kolkata library is a fully automated, ICT (Information and Communication Technology) enabled library. It provides automated circulation services, e-resources, union catalogue of e-resources, reference service, remote log in service, RFID security at exit gate, inter library loan (ILL), Document Delivery Service (DDS) photocopy and printing service, originality checking service, grammar checking service, internet access facility, institutional digital repository (IDR) , library consultancy service, user orientation programme,alerting service. Library also fulfils the purchase request of faculty members, scholars and Bachelor of Science - Master of Science (BSMS) students as well. The paper also reveals the satisfaction level of the users regarding various types of library collections, different services and library physical facilities. Interview method and survey method both are conducted for the data collection purpose.
