Abstract

During the Covid 19 outbreak, all the learning activities were shifted to an online environment to minimise the spread. In this situation, students with disabilities who require assistance are in a vulnerable position compared to other students because they require technological empowerment to continue their education and, as a result, demand support and aid from others. This study
is focused on how the Covid 19 affected the education of visually challenged students and how they adapted to online education. The data were collected from the students of two blind schools in the Calicut district, Kerala, viz., Calicut school for Handicapped and Rahmaniya School for Handicapped. Each of the respondents was personally interviewed to obtain information. The study found that most students were unsatisfied and less interested in online learning. Students are easily distracted during online learning, making it less effective. They also need help from their parents or family to use internet tools and services, which shows that they are digitally incompetent.
