Abstract

Institute libraries integrate their resources and services into their websites which may be designed and developed from the perspective of users' needs. Website or webpages are also one of the best mediums for marketing all events, activities, services, and so on. The purpose of the research paper is to analyse the library web contents of all the affiliated engineering and
management colleges of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal. There are 196 affiliated colleges under MAKAUT, out of which 183 websites can be accessed properly. Out of 183 websites 23 have a direct heading as ‘library’, 141 have
subheadings as ‘library’ but 19 have neither such space nor any information about the library. Based on the literature review related to this area, 7 categories and 26 criteria were selected to analyse the content of the webpages. An exhaustive study of the selected websites of the engineering and management colleges was done and data has been presented in tabular form. From the study, it is found that the libraries of colleges under MAKAUT have minimal representation in their parent websites. This study helps library and information professionals as well as website developers to design library websites or web pages very impressively considering the marketing of library resources, services as well as user needs.
